Born under mysterious circumstances and taken in by the Ishgardian Orthodox Church as an infant, the young Elezen woman has known nothing but the service of Halone. Raised within the austere halls of the Church, she grew into a devout follower, her faith unwavering to the point of near indoctrination. Yet, beneath the rigid doctrines instilled in her since childhood, a deeply compassionate and nurturing soul thrives.A quiet humility and simplicity define her - her garments are plain, her voice soft, and her actions are driven by duty, not personal ambition. She does not seek recognition, nor does she consider herself above those she serves, regardless of their station in life. The blessings she bestows as well as the aid she offers, all come from an earnest heart that seeks only to do Halone’s work.Though Ishgard has long been an isolated nation, her path has recently taken a turn. In order to prove the strength of her devotion and earn the right to ascend to the rank of a fully-fledged nun, she has been sent beyond the city's high walls to spread the teachings of Halone and extend the grace of the Church to those beyond Ishgard’s borders. It is a journey of faith, but also one of discovery. For the first time, she walks among foreign lands, meeting those whose lives and beliefs differ vastly from her own.And though she would never openly admit it, a small part of her is shaken. The world beyond Ishgard is broader and far more complex than the strict teachings the Church had led her to believe. She clings to her faith, to the certainty that her mission is righteous, yet doubts whisper in the quiet corners of her mind. With each step she takes, she is tested - not only in her devotion but in her understanding of the very faith that has guided her since birth.

Appearance

Born in Ishgard, Angelique bears the unmistakable features of her Elezen kin - tall and slender, her form naturally elegant despite the heavy holy garments that shroud her frame. She carries herself with dignity, embodying the grace expected of those who serve the Church.Her skin, pale and smooth as porcelain, could easily be mistaken for that of a Highborn lady or someone sickly, but a closer look betrays her humble origins. The calloused fingers of her hands tell a different story - one of summers spent in tireless labour, of scrubbing floors and tending to the sick and destitute. She wears these subtle signs of hardship with neither shame nor pride, simply as an unspoken testament to her service.Angelique's most striking feature is her eyes - a gentle, pale green, reminiscent of spring’s first bloom against the cold backdrop of Ishgard’s eternal winter. However, her eyes often appear bloodshot, a consequence of long nights spent in prayer or tending to the sick. She frequently rubs them, an unconscious habit that only worsens the redness, leaving her looking weary. Whether it is fatigue, stress, or something else, she never speaks of it - only offering a gentle smile as she continues her work. Beneath her right eye, a single beauty mark adds a quiet charm, a unique signature to an otherwise unadorned face.Her chestnut-brown hair is her pride, though never in vanity. It cascades far past her lower back in rich, silken waves, a length maintained not for beauty’s sake, but as an expression of faith. Inspired by the Fury herself, Angelique allows her hair to grow endlessly in its natural state, a symbol of her devotion and humility. To cut it would be to sever her oath, a betrayal of the discipline she has upheld since childhood. Due to its length, she keeps it tied in an elegant bun or woven into a crown-like braid, always covered beneath her bandeau and veil.True to her pious nature, Angelique is a woman untouched by vanity. She owns no jewelry, wears no rings or makeup. Even if she could afford such luxuries, she would refuse them, for to covet riches is to stray from the path of righteousness. Her attire, though modest, is dictated by the opulence of the Church she serves. Her habits are finely adorned - rich fabrics and intricate embroideries chosen to maintain the illusion of grandeur that Ishgard’s faith clings to, despite its waning glory. Yet, no matter how lavish her vestments appear, she wears them with absolute pride, never revealing a hint of skin beyond her face.

Occupation

From the moment she was taken in as an infant, the Ishgardian Orthodox Church became Angelique’s entire world. Raised within its sacred halls and moulded by its teachings, she is utterly devoted - some would say to the point of indoctrination. There is little room in her mind for anything outside of her faith, for she believes without hesitation that her life’s purpose is to serve Halone and the institution that granted her shelter when no one else would. In her heart, she is not just a follower of the faith, but a servant of its will, a vessel through which the Fury’s justice and mercy may be enacted upon the world.While the high-ranking priests and bishops guide the spiritual path of the faithful through preaching and leadership, Angelique's role as a deacon is just as essential, even if it is often overlooked. Her work ensures the Church runs smoothly, tending to its physical and logistical needs so that the elders may focus on their divine calling. She is responsible for acts of charity and hospitality, offering aid to the sick, the poor, and the destitute. It is her hands that prepare the food for the hungry, mend the garments of the needy, and see to the cathedral’s daily affairs. She serves as a bridge between the Church and its people, embodying the mercy and compassion that many of her higher-ranked brethren often neglect.Despite her dedication, she has yet to take her holy vows - a necessary step before she may ascend to the rank of a nun. It is a goal she longs for with every fibre of her being, the final step to proving her devotion. In her mind, it is not just a duty but a privilege, and she is prepared to work tirelessly, no matter how long it takes, to reach that sacred station.Her studies were guided by some of the most revered scholars of the Scholasticate, with her education fully funded by the Church. She excelled in her training, swiftly becoming a favoured pupil among her professors. Graduating with distinction, she earned her place as one of the few female deacons in a system still heavily biased against her gender.During the Dragonsong War, every soul in Ishgard was called to serve, and the Church was no exception. Even students of the Scholasticate were mobilised, their scholarly pursuits set aside for the sake of the nation’s survival. Angelique proudly answered the call as well. Though she lacked the strength of a warrior, her battlefield was not the frontlines, but the bedsides of the wounded and dying. She worked ceaselessly, tending to the sick, carrying the injured from the fields, and spending sleepless bells whispering prayers over those too far gone to be saved.Now, with the war ended and Ishgard seeking a new future, Angelique’s journey has taken her beyond the safety of the Holy See. Tasked with spreading Halone’s teachings and proving her faith before taking her vows, she walks a new path - one of discovery and unshaken devotion.
